A Practice Philosophy

This practice holds an environmental minimalism position as intrinsic to its way of working.

It underlies all decision making and design principles.

 Sustainable Cities

We use the EcoCost system of environmental impact evaluation for all levels of every project from inception to completion.

  Smaller Houses

The practice is engaged in environmental philosophy and affirmative action at a number of levels from publication to advocacy.

 Make Buildings Better

We re-use all buildings where possible and where not we re-use all the available parts of the exisiting infrastructure.

  Re-Use Buildings

We use only the minimal impact materials, systems and finishes as calculated by the EcoCost system and determined by detailed site analysis.

Reduce the EcoCost of Buildings

The practice uses a method of environmental budgeting to attempt for a net zero impact building using environmental improvement strategies to offset intractable environmental impacts.
